Pakistan’s Haris Rauf produced a brilliant bowling performance to take a sensational five-wicket haul in the second ODI against Australia, putting his team firmly in control and leaving the visitors struggling to recover. Rauf’s devastating spell helped Pakistan bowl Australia out for a modest total, setting the stage for a dominant chase and a potential series-levelling win.
Star Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf ran through the Pakistan batting with a sensational spell during the second ODI at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Friday, November 8. Rauf carried his form from the first game and picked up his second five-wicket haul registering figures of 5/29 in eight overs. Courtesy of his spell, Pakistan managed to keep Australia under pressure with regular scalps and bundled them out for 163 in 35 overs.
Rauf came into the attack in the 12th over of the innings and didn’t have a great beginning leaking nine runs in the first over. However, he made a brilliant comeback in the very next over by getting rid of Josh Inglis who got caught down the leg side while trying to pull the Pakistan speedster.
Shaheen Afridi also picks 3 wickets
Rauf had his tail up and continued to be among the wickets and got the big scalp of Glenn Maxwell who chopped the ball back onto his stumps while trying to pull the fast bowler. Pat Cummins’ was his fifth scalp as the Australia captain was trying to pull a speedy bouncer and got a fine edge which went straight into Rizwan’s gloves.
As a result, the fast bowler registered his second five-wicket haul to leave the hosts reeling on 146/9. He was well-supported by his bowling partner Shaheen Afridi (3/26) who struck early for the team by dismissing openers Matthew Short (19) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (13). Naseem Shah (1/57) and Mohammad Hasnain (1/27) picked one wicket each with the latter getting the prized scalp of Steve Smith (35).
Pakistan’s Dominance in the Field
Rauf was not the only one performing brilliantly with the ball for Pakistan. The entire bowling unit, spearheaded by Rauf, played a part in restricting Australia. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, and Shadab Khan all contributed, sharing wickets and maintaining pressure throughout. The performance highlighted Pakistan’s balanced bowling attack and ability to control the game with precision.
