Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, legendary director Anees Bazmee has opened up about his experience working for the film.
In a recent episode of Aleena Dissects, the master storyteller has shared fascinating behind-the-scenes information about the film, giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of what to expect on the heels of its spectacular launch.
What To Expect from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3:
Without divulging too much of the plot, Bazmee believes that this movie will be “bigger and better than the previous ones”.
From Calcutta to Ladakh to Madhya Pradesh, he also revealed the epic locations used to shoot the movie. With beautiful photography, great palaces and sprawling sets, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will reach new heights with its grand scope.
“”It’s a huge film,” Bazmee summed up.
What Makes This Film Different from the Previous Two Installments?
All three Bhool Bhulaiyaa films follow the horror and comedy genre. However, Bazmee has revealed that for the third installment, the manner in which they present the two genres will be very different.
In particular, it will include a different level of horror and different kind of comedy.
More specifically with regards to its horror genre, the makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa have attempted to create “eerie atmosphere”, with gradually rising anticipation, for the third movie.
Working with Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan:
Bazmee was also all praise for two of Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s highly anticipated cast members, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan. The pair of national icons will join forces in the movie to recreate the legendary song Ami Je Tomar 3.0, set in a royal court.
When speaking about Madhuri Dixit, Bazmee highlighted her surpassing talent.
“She’s such a brilliant dancer and such a brilliant actress,” he praised, and joked that to hire her in a film without at least one iconic dance number would subject him to audience anger on her behalf.
Vidya Bala, who starred as Avni S. Chaturvedi and Manjulika in the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa film, had received tremendous love and appreciation for her role. Acknowledging the high expectations the audience will naturally have for her epic comeback, Bazmee emphasized the immense efforts by the crew to ensure that the third film, and the role of these two national stars in particular, will be as satisfying as possible for viewers.
That’s not all…
However, these were not Anees Bazmee’s only revelations in the episode. Sitting down with Aleena, founder and CEO of Social Media Dissect, the legendary director also opened up about his journey till that point, including his transformation from writer to director, his approach to directing iconic actors like Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, and what it took to make Bhool Bhulaiyaa a cult classic. Reflecting on the nature of cinema today, he also revealed his perspective on box office controversies, the challenge of balancing creative and commercial pressures, and gave important advice to young filmmakers looking to break into Bollywood.
