Cruelty to a minor girl! First the auto driver raped her, then the tourists made her a victim of lust

Puducherry: One more person accused of gang-raping a 16-year-old minor girl from Mumbai was arrested in Bengaluru on Tuesday night.

The man was identified as Chitharanjan, 30, from Odisha, who is working in an IT firm in Chennai. Police produced him before a judicial magistrate on Wednesday, who remanded him in judicial custody.Police had arrested three techies from Chennai, his colleagues identified as Dinabandhu from Odisha, Ramesh from Telangana, and Pankaj from Odisha.Police arrested an auto driver as well, identified as Kaja Mohideen from Kottakuppam.Police booked the five under sections 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012, and 137 (kidnapping) of BNS.Police said a 16-year-old Mumbai girl, who visited Puducherry with her parents to celebrate Diwali with relatives, was raped by an auto driver before being taken to Chennai by at least four tourists and sexually assaulted for two days.Grand Bazaar police inspector A Jayasankar said the girl left her relative’s house in Puducherry after a quarrel with her mother and boarded Mohideen’s auto around 9 pm on Oct 30.The girl asked him to take her to tourist spots, but he took her to his house at Kottakuppam, plied her with liquor, and sexually assaulted her. The next morning, he dropped her at Auroville.The Chennai tourists spotted her on Serenity Beach, befriended her, and offered her a lift when she said she wanted to visit a friend in Chennai.There, they confined her to a room provided by their office, plied her with liquor, and took turns to sexually assault her, he said.They sent her in a cab to Puducherry, where she was dropped on Beach Road on Nov 2.
